Digital Media in the Classroom

1 Graduate Credit

The focus of this course will be on mobile technologies and the use of free digital media tools in a classroom setting.  Technology devices include digital still cameras and the use of handheld digital video camcorders (Flip cams).  The day will be spent learning hands on how to use these mobile technologies in a classroom to increase student engagement and learning.  In addition to learning about these mobile technologies, we will also learn about emerging Web 2.0 sites that can be used in the classroom.  We will explore tools such as Voicethread, Yodio, XTimeline, and Wikispaces.

Using the iPod Touch in the Classroom

1 Graduate Credit

Today’s educators are constantly looking for tools to assist with teaching students’ 21st Century Learning Skills.  iPod Touches are a mainstream technology that has incredible educational implications for students.  iPods Touches can be used to access, manage, and even create academic content. They can allow students to listen to directions, lessons, and information at a rate, volume, and frequency that benefits their learning style. This session will open the door to possible applications in your curriculum to enhance and extend student learning.
